BTEC Firsts in Business provides students with opportunities to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life. This subject appeals to students who want to develop a broad background in business. BTEC Firsts in Business introduces students to work related learning and will enables them to take charge of their own learning and development through projects, investigations and actively linking with local businesses. Practical work on the computer also features throughout this subject.
BTEC Firsts offers direct progression on to AS and A2 qualifications at further education colleges as well as offering students the opportunity to continue their studies on BTEC National Programme's. BTEC firsts also prepares students for employment in their chosen career. Business is the most popular degree studied in the UK, and is a key GCSE employers look for after Maths, Science and English.
Assessment of this qualification is through the production of coursework projects and is ongoing throughout the two-year course, there is no external examination. BTEC Certificate provides students with the opportunity to achieve 2 GCSE grades A*-C and the BTEC Diploma offers the opportunity to achieve 4 A*-C grade GCSEs.
