We will be running our next 'Can-Do' Week on the 19th - 23rd July 2010, with the theme being 'Communication'. During this week students will build and further develop their enterprise skills in not only communication, but also teamwork, problem solving, decision making and much more.

At Werneth School try to equip our students with the skills necessary in the World of Work by introducing our CanDo days and weeks. The name CanDo was chosen as we feel it embraces all that Enterprise is about….developing a CanDo culture and attitude about all that we do. We aim to instill belief and confidence in our students to go out and achieve regardless of how difficult their goal may first appear.

Throughout the school year students participate in:

· 5 themed CanDo Days and 2 themed CanDo Weeks.
· Normal timetable is suspended and our students are provided with rich and diverse opportunities to enhance their learning and personal development.

Through CanDo our students have enjoyed opportunities that have enabled them to learn how to work with others, to explore social issues and other aspects of citizenship, to understand and learn about different cultures and to develop qualities such as self confidence, responsibility, self awareness, communication, negotiation, persistence, initiative and co-operation.

CanDo activities can be based in or out of school. Off site activities have costs attached to them that students are required to pay, these can range from as little a £3.50 up to £700+ for the Skiing course.

Providing such Opportunities

Running such an exciting part of our curriculum would not be possible without the huge amount of time and effort put into the activities by all the staff at Werneth

We are also greatly supported by our parents who both   support and help us throughout the year, but in particular during this week as without their time and financial  contributions these valuable learning opportunities could and would not happen.
