PLANS AND STRATEGIES

Community Cohesion at  Werneth School is an initiative which  combines and  extends  many of our our student facilitation initiatives, and develops  our existing good practices with parent/school relationships, work with the LEA and the community. This has also led to the development of modules of work in PSE lessons and other subjects.

We hope that Community Cohesion at Werneth School will develop and foster a common vision and a sense of belonging by all communities and groups within Werneth School.  At the same time supporting diversity and encouraging pride in each person’s background. These groups to be considered will include:

    1. Gender
    2. Race
    3. Religion
    4. Socio/economic (e.g. free school meals)

This will be achieved, partly through actively engaging young people from all backgrounds in, Peer Education schemes, form activities, School Council and Stockport Youth Councilors, the curriculum and also some of the many extra curricular activities, such as Junior Sports and Dance Leaders. Involvement will be encouraged and targeted and not left to chance.

We also plan to:

  1. To review and develop related policies and training needs
  2. To monitor and evaluate involvement of students and parents in school activities
  3. To work with the LEA and community groups
  4. To review initiatives and assess success
  5. To deliver quality learning opportunities to all students and issues linked to community cohesion.
