Welcome to our Werneth School Council Website...

Werneth School Council was set up in 2005 as part of our commitment to involve students in every aspect of school life.

It represents one part of a thriving pupil voice structure and it has had a real impact on the school and the community, driving change, developing partnerships and challenging perceptions.

It has been judged Outstanding by Ofsted on two occasions and it has, with other students action groups from Werneth, been invited to present at two National Conferences and several SSAT Regional Conferences around the country.

It has won awards for its work combating Anti-Social Behaviour in the community from the Local Council and for Stockport Homes.

Projects involving the School Council have included:

  • Working with staff to develop teaching and learning introducing a DFL structure, developing schemes of work
  • Peer Education schemes
  • Peer Mentor training
  • Developing community cohesion projects
  • Anti-bullying campaigns  (visits to Primary Schools)
  • Briefing NQTs
  • Taking staff insets and assemblies
  • Recommending policies to the Governing body
  • Raising money to finance student lead projects
  • Holding collaborations with other students.
