For a minority of students for whom this is not suitable Year 9 will be used as a bridging year and Entry Level Certificate in Science will be studied.
All Key stage 4 students are time tabled for 7 lessons a fortnight. Most students study OCR Core Science in Year 10 followed by Additional Science in Year 11. The Biology, Chemistry and Physics' strands are more discrete on this course and the teacher stays with the class throughout the course.
For those students who choose Science as an option, they increase their study time to 15 lessons per fortnight and the OCR Triple Science course is followed. Biology. Chemistry and Physics are taught as 3 distinct subjects with a team of three teachers.
